Progress is being made on the new Opp Utilities building.
General Manager Stacey Parker said Friday that the new building, which is located on the site of the former J.M. Jackson Chevrolet-Buick on Hart Avenue, has been dried in and construction crews were beginning on the inside of the building.
“The anticipated completion date is September 2015 – possibly a little sooner, if they stay ahead of schedule,” he said. “We are very excited to finally have an office we can all be proud of.”
The current office is located next door to the Opp Police Department and is an older building with little space.
With the new office will come convenience for customers, as well.
“We plan to have the drive-thru open all month instead of just through the 10th of each month,” he said. “Which will be a nice convenience for our customers.”
Additionally, Parker said that there will be additional parking available for customers and accessible for customers with disabilities.
“It will be a nice addition to downtown,” he said.
