Bulldog baseball starts off strong

The Andalusia Bulldogs (2-0) started the baseball season with two wins Monday in W.S. Neal’s opening season tournament.
In game one the Bulldogs beat the Clarke County Bulldogs 5-1. The winning pitcher in the match was Devan McDuffie. Todd Wright sizzled at the plate going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Brayden Burkhardt also went 2-for-3 in the opening game.
In the second game of the evening, the Bulldogs pulled out an 8-5 win over W.S. Neal. Will Jones picked up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. Burkhardt was credited with the save. Nathan Langley led the Bulldogs with 3 RBIs, and was 2-for-4 at the plate. Taylor Griffin went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Hunter Earnest finished the game 2-for-3.
“The kids played hard tonight and fought through adversity towards the end of the game,” Bulldogs’ head coach Tyler Dent said. “Our two pitchers threw well and we did some good situational hitting. We just have to play better defense.”
