Jacie Williamson became the 58th recorded girl to score 2,000 points in a career in AHSAA history.

Straughn senior basketball star Jacie Williamson became the newest member of the AHSAA 2,000 career point club Tuesday night against Andalusia.

“Jacie is a great athlete, and a great person,” Straughn head coach Scott Kinsaul said. “It takes special talent, and a good team to accomplish this kind of thing.”

Coming into the game against Andalusia, Williamson needed just 9 points to break the 2,000-point mark. Williamson eclipsed the mark in the fourth period of Straughn’s victory over Andalusia in the first round of the 4A area 2 tournament.

“I didn’t even know I was that close,” Williamson said. “I found out the day before the game that I was getting close, but I tried to not to think about during the game.”

Williamson joins 57 other girls in AHSAA history to reach 2,000 or more points in a career.

“It is such an honor and privilege to get this recognition, but I couldn’t have done it with my teammates,” Williamson said.

As for what her future holds, Williamson said that she hasn’t made a decision on what she wants to do.

“She is one of the best shooters that I have ever coached,” Kinsaul said “She deserves every award she has gotten.”

Williamson will lead the Lady Tigers into battle tonight against Ashford in the 4A, Area 2 championship game.
