Rollin Kinsaul moves past a Panther defender.

The Straughn Tigers led for the first half, but ultimately fell to the Georgiana Panthers 56-43 Saturday in the Red Level Christmas tournament.

 

The Tigers came out with strong defense, and were up on the Panthers 14-7 after one period. Rollin Kinsaul had 7 points, including a pair of 3-pointers for the Tigers. Brice Scott had 5 points, and also hit a 3-pointer.

 

The Panthers cut into the Tigers lead in the second, but still trailed 28-25 at halftime. Richard Boggan got the Panthers rolling in the second with 10 points from the floor. Johnathan Driver, Tucker Lawless, and Scott each had 4 points for the Tigers.

 

In the third period, it was the Panthers defense that stepped up, and held the Tigers to 5 points. Kinsaul had all but one of the Tigers’ third period points. Boogan had 7 points for the Panthers. Heading into the final period, the Panthers were on top 39-33.

 

The Panthers pulled away in the final period for a 56-43 victory. Devin McMeans had a big 3-pointer to go along with 7 points in the fourth. Marshall Farley had 5 points for the Tigers.

 

Boggan led the Panthers with 25 points, and McMeans totaled 16 points.

 

Scott led the Tigers with 13 points, and Kinsaul finished with 12 points.
