More than 700 people visited the Westview Baptist Church live nativity scene this weekend, despite the weather.
“It was a great, great turnout,” Westview Music Minister Roger McClain said. “It’s just like a gift from Westview to our community.”
McClain said the turnout for the weekend was comparable to last year, even though the event was rained out on Friday.
He said without the rain, the event would likely have been backed up.
“The Westview members did not let the weather affect them,” McClain said. “It was a great weekend and if God wanted it to rain, then that was fine with us.”
He said the church appreciated all the support, kind thoughts and compliments from the community.
“We just try to do something different,” McClain said. “We can do things differently, but the message will always be the same. We love Christmas and it’s a wonderful time of the year.
“A lot of times we fail to tell the story of how he came to the manger and what it meant for God to give us his only son,” he said.
McClain said all the support was there to pull the event off, and God helped the members have the desire and commitment to do it, our pastor, too.
“He is a model Christian and we are so blessed and fortunate to have him,” McClain said. “Sunday mornings worship the most compliments we’ve ever seen.”
He said if there is anyone looking for a church home, he suggested joining Westview.
