Just as a community comes together to support its high school football team, so should a community come together to celebrate the work of God.

That’s the message the Rev. Darryl Bush, pastor of First Baptist Whatley Street, delivered at the annual community Thanksgiving service at First Presbyterian last night.

The annual event is a collective effort by members of the Andalusia Area Ministerial Association.

Using Luke 17:11-19 as his text, in which Jesus heals 10 lepers, Bush said healing is not always physical.

“Your cure is not always physically,” he said. You’ll receive the cure on the inside.

“I’m thankful that my mind has been changed. Get yourself a cure and you’ll be thankful.”

The service also included anthems by a combined community choir. Other pastors participating in the service included Deacon Lee Crowder, River Falls Baptist; the Rev. Cynthia Howard, St. Mary’s Episcopal; the Rev. Bob Madsen, First Presbyterian; the Rev. Clyde Northrop, Salem Baptist; the Rev. LaMorris Pryor, Tabernacle of Praise; the Rev. Marc Vincent, St. Michael’s Anglican Church; and the Rev. Chester Watson, First Pentecostal Church.
