The Opp Police Department has identified the victims in a ‘suspicious’ Thursday fire in Opp.

Opp Police Department Assistant Chief Kevin Chance identified the couple as Justin Andrews and Stephanie Andrews.

Around 9:50 a.m. Thursday, the OPD and the Opp Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a structure fire with injuries at a residence at the 300 Block of Batton Street.

According to OPD chief Mike McDonald, when officers arrived at the scene, they located Stephanie Andrews, who suffered severe burns, and Justin Andrews, who had moderate-to-severe burns.

Officers and firefighters found the pair in the front yard.

Opp Fire Chief Cory Spurlin said the pair was airlifted separately to USA Medical Center in Mobile.

Media representatives at USA Medical Center said Stephanie Andrews is listed in critical condition, while Justin Andrews is listed in serious condition.

“We are working with the Opp Police Department and the state fire marshal’s office,” he said.

The case is still under investigation, Chance said.
