The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles moved to 1-0 on the season after thumping the Zion Chapel Lady Rebels 68-9 Tuesday night in Pleasant Home.
“Zion Chapel was a really young team, and I was surprised at how well we shot tonight,” Eagles head coach Jerry Davis said. “It’s hard to tell how our offense really was tonight, because we didn’t really have to set up much from scoring on fastbreaks and turnovers mostly.”
The Lady Eagles jumped out front to a 20-4 lead in the first period with Jade Self leading the way scoring 13 points. Self was all over the place the entire game. It seemed every time the Lady Rebels crossed half court that Self was right there to swipe the ball and take it the other direction for an easy two points.
By the end of the second period the Lady Eagles were up 44-4. Self added 8 points in the second and Anna Bulger accounted for 6 points.
After three periods of play the Lady Eagles held a 58-9 advantage. Self tacked on 6 more to her scoring total.
“We will see how good we are in the next few days. We have Andalusia, Brantley, and Straughn all coming up,” Davis said. “We have been practicing for eight days so far, but there have only been four days that we have had everyone here due to illnesses. I was surprised how we ran up and down the court as well as we did with everyone being sick.”
Self led the Lady Eagles with 27 points, Bulger, River Baldwin, and Cassidy Godwin each had 8 points as well for the Lady Eagles.
