A group of students from Andalusia Middle School had the opportunity Wednesday morning to get an early glimpse of the new junior high facilities on the Andalusia High School campus.
Principal Dr. Daniel Shakespeare led students on the tour, showing them all the features that the junior high building has. The students were shown the two classrooms and the multipurpose room that have the capability of being completely closed off, as safe rooms, in case of an emergency. The safe rooms are equipped with steel doors and windows capable of withstanding 200 mph winds.
The students also were shown the new science labs, which include many high tech features.
After the tour the students were asked how they thought the best way to keep the new facilities clean and nice. Students responded with ideas such as, “If you are in detention you should have to clean up”. Dr. Shakespeare responded with a chuckle and said there was no question those serving detention would be helping to clean up.
