More than 15,266 people attended the 2014 Kiwanis Covington County Fair last week.

Kiwanis Fair Board President Rex Jones said Tuesday the 2014 event was one of the most successful ever.

“Attendance was 2,000 up over last year,” he said.

With the exception of rain delays on Mon., Oct. 13, the opening day, the Kiwanis Club had “fair” weather for it’s annual event.

Jones said 15,266 people paid admission, and additionally, more than 400 special needs residents participated in a morning set aside for them. The totals also don’t include late-night attendees Friday night, Jones said.

Kiwanis members recorded 3,670 attendees on Friday – even competing with high school football games – and 4,070 on Saturday.
