Area volleyball tournaments for the six county schools will be held in more than a week.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association set this year’s tournaments for Oct. 20-21 with the South Super Regional taking place a few days later at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.

In each classification, the area winner and runner up advance to the super regional.

Pleasant Home, Florala, Red Level and Opp will hold their respective area tournaments on Oct. 20. Straughn and Andalusia will hold theirs on Oct. 21.

In the Class 1A, Area 2 exhibition, the Lady Wildcats face Brantley at 4 p.m. in the semifinals of the single elimination tournament.

PHS has a bye in the first round and already has a berth to the super regional. The Lady Eagles play the winner of Red Level-JU Blacksher at 5:30 p.m. in the finals of the Area 3 tournament.

The Class 3A, Area 2 tournament will be held at T.R. Miller. The Lady Bobcats play Hillcrest-Evergreen in the semifinals at 2 p.m.

SHS will host the Class 4A, Area 2 tournament. The Lady Tigers play Ashford at 4 p.m., and the Lady Bulldogs play Headland at 5 p.m. in the semifinals. The finals are slated for 6 p.m.
