Opp set to face No. 2 T.R. Miller tomorrow
Opp put last week’s tough loss to Andalusia in the rear view mirror and is looking forward to the opportunity of playing second-ranked T.R. Miller tomorrow night at Channel-Lee Stadium.
Bobcats head football coach Brent Hill said he told his players last Friday to hold on to the emotions they felt until Sunday and by evening, it’s over.
“We’re looking at T.R. Miller as an exciting opportunity to play one of the best teams in the state,” Hill said. “They’re not ranked No. 2 for no reason.”
The Tigers are undefeated going into the game against OHS. The Bobcats are 3-2 overall, and 2-1 in Class 3A, Region 1.
T.R. Miller’s Jones Manning at quarterback and McHenry Coleman at running back are the main threats for the Bobcats.
What may be a big obstacle for OHS this week is TRM’s front line.
“They’re experienced and big,” Hill said. “That’s usually a good combination for high school football. Schematically, offensively and defensively, they’re going to run the football efficiently. They’re going to be good at what they run.”
Hill said the offensive line is full of talented players who play at other positions on the field.
“No. 50 (Kyle Davis) plays at linebacker and also on the offensive line,” he said. “Their two defensive tackles are big boys.”
Hill said the boys are relishing the opportunity to play at tough team.
“We’re excited about it,” Hill said. “There aren’t many chances in life you get to play a team with that kind of great caliber players.”
Kick off tomorrow night is at 7.
