RLS to use game as ‘measuring stick’

Red Level will be using this week’s road game against Brantley as a “measuring stick” to see where its program is in the grand scheme of things, Tigers head football coach David Godwin said.
“Anytime you play Brantley, you’re going up against a team that’s where every program is trying to get to in 1A in the state,” Godwin said.
The Tigers are coming off a tough 40-28 loss to rival Florala. RLS stayed close with the Wildcats throughout the majority of the game, but FHS pulled away late to claim the 12-point win.
Brantley (3-0, 2-0 in Class 1A, Region 2) overcame some early adversity last week at Georgiana to come from behind 20 points to beat the Panthers, 44-40.
The Bulldogs run their offense out of a Wing-T and shot gun formation. Defensively, BHS runs out of a 3-4.
Godwin said going to play at BHS is pretty tough.
“What makes it tough to play there are the players and fans,” he said.
Kick off Friday night is at 7.
