Andalusia’s annual event is Mon., Aug. 25 at country club
The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce’s 9th annual Golf Classic will tee off on Mon., Aug. 25 at the Andalusia Country Club.
The classic tournament is the chamber’s largest fundraiser, AACC Executive Director Chrissie Duffy said.
“It’s a great way to show your support of the chamber and spend the afternoon or morning playing golf with your business associates in the community,” Duffy said.
There are two flights available for golfers at the tournament — a 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. flight. Cost to play is $100 for individual players and $300 per three-player team.
One of the tournament’s highlights include a ball drop at noon, Duffy said.
The ball drop is one of many opportunities to win prizes. Sponsored by SunSouth, one lucky person will win a yeti cooler and a chance at $50,000, Duffy said.
“We are selling 300 numbered golf balls that we will drop out of a John Deere front end loader on the day of the tournament,” she said. “The ball landing closest to the target wins a 35-quart tundra yeti cooler from JR’s Lawnmower shop; and if the number matches the pre-determined winning number, that person will receive a check for $50,000.”
To enter the ball drop contest, each ball is $5 or five for $20. They can be purchased in advance at the chamber office or on the day of the tournament.
In addition to the already-established chances at winning prizes, a golfer will get a chance to win a brand new car for a hole in one, Duffy said.
Golfers will also get some nice gifts and prizes depending on how well they do in the tournament. First place in both the morning and afternoon flights will win $100 each. Second place finishers in both flights will receive $75 each. Additionally, there will be a $100 gift card sponsored by Walmart for the longest drive contest.
Duffy said registration forms for golf teams are available at the chamber office and Andalusia Country Club, and added that the chamber is still accepting sponsorships through Aug. 18.
There are sponsorship packages available. The Eagle Sponsor package, which includes two 3-player teams, two hole sponsorships with signage, logo on banner at the event, voice recognition at event, lunch for all players, goody-bags and six door-prize tickets for $1,000. The Birdie Sponsor packet includes one three-player team, one hole sponsorship with signage, a logo banner at the event, voice recognition, lunch for all players, a goody bag and three door-prize tickets for $500, and the Hole Sponsor gets one hole sponsorship with signage for $100.
“We invite all members and potential members — even those who don’t play golf — to join us,” Duffy said. “We will have the ball drop at the end of lunch and it should be great fun.”
