Investigators with the Andalusia Police Department were still working Monday evening to determine what caused a woman to run off the road and crash into a large piece of parked equipment.

At approximately 7 p.m., emergency workers responded to the single-vehicle crash on Ala. Hwy. 55. APD Sgt. Nic Ireland said a single white female heading west in a Nissan Sentra was seriously injured in the accident.

“It appears she ran off the road and struck the back of this road grader,” Ireland said. “She was alone and she is being LifeFlighted from the Kiwanis center to one of the bigger hospitals. That’s all we know right now.”

The accident was still under investigation by APD and the name and condition of the victim had not yet been released as of press time.
