An Elba man gave officers in Opp a brief bit of exercise after fleeing a bail bondsman on foot Wednesday evening.
Kevin Chance, assistant police chief in Opp, said Michael Dakota Williams, 20, of Elba, was initially arrested Tuesday night for minor in consumption of alcohol and was attempting to bond out Wednesday when he suddenly pushed the bondsman and fled the scene on foot.
“Officers shouted for him to stop, and he refused,” Chase said. “He ran just a few blocks.”
Chase said officers chased Williams from Hart Avenue to Foster Street, where he was taken into custody once again.
Chase said Williams received additional charges of harassment and obstructing government operations in relation to Wednesday’s incident.
