Fireworks retailers see increase in foot traffic

Looking for the most bang for your buck this Independence Day? You can literally find it in Heath, where local fireworks stands are packing all manner of things that go boom.
At Black Cat Fireworks on U.S. Hwy. 29, employee Jeremiah Jones said things have been steady so far this week, leading up to Friday’s holiday. Only miles away at K&V Fireworks, Vickie Grissett said the stand she owns, along with her husband Kenny, has also been busy.
“We’ve been steady,” Grissett said. “Pretty much what we’re used to this time of year.”
At both stands, the expectation is that traffic will increase dramatically as the week wears on.
“We’ll be busy by Friday,” Jones said.
And both spots will extend business hours on Friday to accommodate the traffic. At Black Cat Fireworks, the stand is open daily from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., but will open early Friday, at 8 a.m., and will close whenever business ends. At K&V Fireworks, the stand is also currently open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., but Grissett said they too will generally stay open later if business dictates.
