Six teams highlight this week’s 8U Cal Ripken District 8 Tournament at Johnson Park in Andalusia.

Andalusia, Covington County and Opp are the local teams participating. They are joined by East Brewton, Brewton and Evergreen.

The tournament format is double elimination and the winner and runner up advance to the state tournament.

Covington County plays Opp on Johnson Park Field 3, and Brewton plays Andalusia on Johnson Park Field 4 at 6 p.m. on Thursday to start tournament play. East Brewton and Evergreen have first-round byes.

East Brewton awaits the winner of CC-Opp, and Evergreen awaits the winner of Andalusia-Brewton at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Loser’s bracket play doesn’t start until Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.

The tournament semifinals will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday with the championship on Sunday at 6 p.m. The loser’s bracket championship is slated for 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The if necessary game is at 6 p.m. on Mon., June 16.
