FHS coach search begins

A string of applications have come across Florala Principal Brent Zessin’s desk, but interviews to fill the vacant head football coach’s position at the high school haven’t begun, the principal said.
Former FHS coach Bubba Nall resigned as head football and baseball coach on May 23. The Covington County Board of Education approved his resignation at Tuesday’s meeting.
Now, the search is on to find the program’s fifth coach in the last six years.
The longest-running coach, Ariton Hudson, served as the Wildcats’ head coach from 1993-2007, according to Star-News archives.
There is a special-called board of education meeting on June 12, in which, Covington County Schools Superintendent Shannon Driver said there were going to be a few more hires, making it possible that a new coach could be named then.
