Time is running out for Covington County residents not already registered to vote in the upcoming primary elections on June 3.
The registration process must be completed by Friday at the Covington County Board of Registrars’ office, located in the county administration building. Registrar Bertie Smith said registration forms are available in other locations, including the probate judge’s office, the public library, the department of human resources and the health department, but added time is running short for people to mail them in.
“We have to have those in the office by Friday, so the probate office can get the voter lists distributed to the polling places,” Smith said.
Smith said people registering need only an Alabama driver license number, or the last four digits of their Social Security Number, as well as personal information such as address, phone number and date of birth.
The last day to register for absentee voting is Sat., May 24. The last day to apply for an absentee ballot is Thurs., May 29.
