Worthless check unit picks up Elba man for 12 counts of bad checks

The Covington County District Attorney’s Office Worthless Check Unit has knocked one more name off its list of the nearly 30 individuals currently wanted for passing bad checks.
According to information released by the DA’s Office, Ray Michael Blocker, 48, was taken into custody at his residence in Elba Monday morning by DA Investigator Lamar Stokes.
Blocker had previously been convicted of 12 counts of negotiating a worthless instrument and had failed to make the last 12 installments of a court-ordered monthly payment plan. In total, officials said Blocker owes $12,764 to area merchants, and will remain in jail without bond until he is able to pay back the full amount.
The Worthless Check Unit is currently seeking a total of 27 other people wanted for writing bad checks, including: Sammie Lee Jenkins Jr., Cynthia Marie Jackson, Tyler Lamar Hudson, Tiffany Labrittany Hubert, Betty Koen Hoven, Branden Lee Howell, Shannon Leigh Houdashelt, Juwan Marteiz Gilchrist, Kathy Lyn Franklin, Yvonnie Florence, Mary Horn Duncan, Joshua Shane Driggers, Robert Cleo Dorsey, Bridgett Latrese Davis, Richard Wendell Coleman Jr., Eric Shawn Alford, Byron Todd Carpenter, Eddie B. Campbell, James Edward Gantt, Donnie Stackhouse Jr., Jonathan Todd Prescott, Shamika Shawtay Hall, Priscilla Vivian Carter, Melvin Jody Armstrong, Jamie Henderson, Jennifer Susan Quinley and Angela Alisa Curry.
