Andalusia’s boys tennis team finished sixth in the Class 4A state tournament at the Almon Tennis Center at Point Mallard State Park in Decatur on Tuesday.
The weather was a factor for most of the morning as rain swept through the area, causing play to start after 1 p.m.
Andalusia’s Ian Peek and Jackson Moore lost to Guntersville in the semifinals of No. 1 doubles; and Brandon Scruggs and David May lost to UMS-Wright in the semifinals of No. 2 doubles.
Peek, who was playing in No. 2 singles action, fell to UMS in the semifinals.
AHS boys tennis coach Perry Dillard said he was proud of the effort the team, especially the seniors, gave on the court.
“I was just glad that all three seniors (Moore, Scruggs and May) got to play on the last day,” Dillard said. “I’m proud of Ian for making it to the semifinals. They worked really hard, and it paid off for them.”
