Straughn routs Andalusia, 18-7

Straughn scored eight runs in the first inning, Andalusia came back to cut the game to one run in the fourth, but the Lady Tigers pulled away late to take a 18-7 victory over the Lady Bulldogs at the Dwight Mikel Sports Complex on Monday.
Jacie Williamson, Katelyn Kinsaul and Brentley Armstrong went 3-for-5 each; Paige Taylor went 3-for-4; Dee Gantt went 3-for-3; and Colby Adams went 3-for-4 to lead SHS.
Andalusia’s Abbie Young went 3-for-3; Aaliyah Lawrence went 2-for-3;and Emily Terry went 2-for-3.
Hayden Willis allowed five earned runs on seven hits and struck out one in 3.1 innings for the win. Gantt got the save pitching 2.2 innings and allowing two hits.
Young allowed 10 runs on 12 hits; and Breanna Dixon allowed eight runs on six hits in the loss.
In other softball action last night, the Lady Wildcats scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 4-3 deficit and went on to beat Samson 12-4.
Bailea Rickett earned the win on the mound for FHS.
