Excel defeated Straughn 4-1 in the first game of a Class 3A, Area 2 doubleheader Thursday afternoon to end the prospect of the Tigers notching a playoff berth this season.

However, SHS bounced back to claim the second game, 9-5.

The Tigers needed to win both games in order to secure a postseason ticket.

During game one, SHS played Excel well through the first few innings on defense as it executed well in the field.

SHS ended its season 15-16.
