Florala beat Pleasant Home 6-3 to claim the Class 1A, Area 3 championship Thursday night at Stevenson Field.

“I’m excited for the kids,” Wildcats baseball coach Bubba Nall said. “To win the area championship back to back, it’s a hard thing to do.”

The No. 8 Wildcats improve to 13-2 overall and wait for either Geneva County or Brantley in the first round of the state playoffs, which starts next Friday.

In softball action, Florala’s Lily Ritzel struck out 14 batters in seven innings to help lead the Lady Wildcats to a 2-0 victory over W.S. Neal.

Samantha Hammac and Callie Wise scored for FHS in the fourth inning.
