A local man was booked into the Covington County Jail over the weekend after allegedly purchasing controlled substances from undercover law enforcement agents, who also believe he intended to sell the narcotics.
Dean Argo, government relations manager for the Alabama Beverage Control Board, said 39-year-old Jimmy Lee Bulger was taken into custody Friday after he attempted to purchase narcotics from undercover officers from two agencies.
“We made the arrest working with members of the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force,” Argo said. “He was arrested on a warrant for distribution of a controlled substance. The warrant was obtained after an undercover buy was made by Mr. Bulger.”
Argo said DTF agents, as well as ABC Sgt. Scotty Ballard, made the arrest.
Bulger was officially charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. As of Tuesday night, he remained in jail on a $100,000 bond.
