Little Lambs: Clean out, earn cash

Winter is officially over, and a local charitable organization is offering spring-cleaners a chance to do some good and earn some cash with those leftover items found during the process.
Organizer Shirley Tew said the annual Little Lambs Spring Consignment Sale will be held this year on Fri., April 11, and Sat., April 12, at the Andalusia Kiwanis center. The two-day sale is a great way to clean out your closet or garage, while making a profit and helping others who may be in the market for “gently-used” clothing, toys and other items, Tew said.
“This is a sale for used clothing, toys, books, shoes and furniture,” Tew said. “A group of Christian women began this sale as an opportunity to raise money for missions projects.”
Tew said those interested in contributing to the sale should do so by this year’s deadline of Fri., April 4. Each sale, she said, will be broken up, with 75 percent of the profit going back to the seller, and the remaining 25 percent to a charity selected by a member of the Little Lambs Council.
Additionally, Tew said sellers are asked to pay a $10 registration fee, which will be deducted from the seller’s overall profit, as well as to donate a three-hour block of time to work before, during or after the sale. As a perk, Tew said sellers will be allowed to shop the sale Friday evening, before it is opened to the general public.
This year’s sale will be held Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, with extended hours lasting from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Cash is the only acceptable form of payment.
All checks from the sale will be available for pick up at Merle Norman, Tues., April 29 through Thurs., May 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tew said all sellers, both previous and new, will need to pick up a new seller packet at either Blackston Quality Eye Care, the office of First Baptist Church of Andalusia or South Alabama Pediatrics in Opp.
“We hope (people) will be a part of this exciting event that will benefit all and bring glory to Christ,” Tew said.
