When former Andalusia Middle School student Christian Wossilek turned down the opportunity to appear on the show, “The X Factor,” last year, it seemed he had other goals in mind. Thursday, the teen’s mother, Kay Wossilek, announced one of those goals had been reached.
“He has been chosen to be in a new boy band, ‘Far Young,’” she said. “It’s a dream come true for him.”
While Kay said she is not yet at liberty to release much information surrounding the newly formed group, she said producer Tim Coon, who aided in the formation of both “The Backstreet Boys” and “N’Sync,” is heavily involved with the project.
“He said he wanted to form one more boy band before he retired,” she said.
Kay said her family, which is currently in Orlando, Fla., is excited for Christian as he embarks on a new chapter in his musical journey, which only began a few short years ago.
“He didn’t start singing until he was 12,” Kay said. “This has been a whirlwind. As a mom, I’ve never been so excited about anything in my whole life. He’s living his dream.”
Kay said a formal announcement concerning the new group should be coming in a matter of days, but, for now, she is enjoying the success her 14-year-old son has earned.
“It is just amazing,” she said. “Just to watch him and to see all of this take place. I’m so proud.”
