The Southeast Alabama Gas District and its Relay for Life team is again asking for the community’s support this year in raising funds by sponsoring a team at the Relay for Life Fishing Tournament Sat., March 29, at Point A. Lake.

In 2013, 29 boats participated in the tournament with local teams, as well as participants from Dothan, Mobile, Birmingham and Georgia taking part in the event.

Proceeds from the event will be used in the fight against cancer by helping fund research, programs and education.

All money raised through pledges will go to the Covington County Relay for Life event, which will take place later this year.

SEAGD is asking for business sponsors to aid with door prizes and cash donations, which are depended upon for prize money for the tournament.

Donations may be made payable to SEAGD/Relay for Life and may be sent to the attention of Reba Gant. Anyone wanting to donate a door prize may contact Gant, who will arrange for the item or items to be picked up.

All sponsors will be listed on the sponsorship board and displayed the day of the tournament. With a minimum $50 sponsorship received by Fri., March 14, the business name will be listed on t-shirts given to the pre-registered fishermen.

Registration for the tournament is $90 per boat with an optional $10 per boat big fish registration. First place will receive $600; second place, $250; third place, $150; and the Big Fish prize will be $120. Registration should be mailed to SEAGD Bass Tournament, c/o Reba Gant, P.O.
