An Opp family is in need after a fire badly damaged their home Tuesday morning.

According to members of the Opp City Council, the home of Ty and Sheena Buckelew, located at 404 West St., sustained heavy smoke damage to the kitchen area in the fire.

Opp Councilman T.D. Morgan said no one was hurt in the fire, but the family could use the help of the community.

Morgan also commended the Opp Fire Department for quickly squelching the blaze.

“I want to give the fire department a big hand,” Morgan said. “They were there fast, and they got it under control.”
