Wildcats get OT win over Kinston

Three Florala varsity boys finished in double figures as the Wildcats defeated Kinston 48-47 in overtime on Friday night.
Khalen Ball led FHS with 18 points. Avery McNeill and Stephen Ratliff added 10 points each to help lead their team to a 1-1 record in Class 1A, Area 2.
“The guys really stepped up as a team tonight and played all four quarters,” FHS coach Troy Stewart said. “They showed real growth by maintaining their composure when the game was on the line.”
Lyndsee Edwards and Kendra Avan scored six points each in Florala’s 34-22 girls loss to the Bulldogs.
In B-team action, KHS won 36-24.
FHS is back in action on Tuesday at Pleasant Home in area play.
In other action, Pleasant Home’s Chase Gunter scored 18 points and Troy Fantroy added 15 in their team’s 59-51 loss to GCHS.
“We made a drive at the end, but it just wasn’t enough,” PHS coach Bradley Stephens said.
In girls action, Geneva County stand out Lacy Stafford scored 22 points to help lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 45-20 area victory.
Cassidy Godwin led PHS with nine points.
Red Level’s Natalie Feagin led the Lady Tigers with 14 points. Kayla Hinson had nine points and Shelby Holley chipped in six points.
RLS led 7-5 after the first period, 14-10 at halftime and 24-16 after the third period.
“We finally finished a ball game,” RLS coach Allen Catrett said. “They played hard throughout.”
RLS improves to 5-11 overall, and 2-1 in Class 1A, Area 3.
In boys action, the Tigers lost 53-27.
Spencer Stallworth led RLS with 11 points. William Crawford and Ontaryo Nearor had six points each.
RLS hosts Georgiana on Tuesday in area action.
