A birth announcement in Saturday’s Star-News went viral, and with it, a mistake.

Krimson Tyde Steele is the newborn SON of Summer and Steven Steele.

“The birth announcement submitted to us did not include the baby’s gender,” said Star-News publisher Michele Gerlach. “Unfortunately, we thought he was a girl.

“We were contacted late Sunday by the boy’s mother and have immediately apologized and sought to set the record straight.”

The baby’s name gave him almost instant fame, with web sites like bleacherreport.com picking up a story about the name.

Krimson Tyde weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20 inches long when he made his appearance at Andalusia Regional Hospital.

His maternal grandparents are Kimberly Musgrove and Randy Ainsworth.

His paternal grandparents are Ellie Mae Steele and the late David Randy Steele.
