Straughn put together another good second-half performance in its 64-37 victory over Red Level on Friday night during day two of its annual boys Christmas tournament.
“We didn’t play well again in the first half,” SHS coach Rusty Andrews said. “In the second half, we picked up the pace a little more.”
Straughn’s JD Driver led the Tigers with 17 points. Brice Scott chipped in 12 points.
Red Level’s Spencer Stallworth scored 10 points. William Crawford added nine.
RLS coach Allen Catrett said it was a lack of “execution” during the loss.
“We’ve got to execute, take care of the basketball and make those high-percentage shots,” Catrett said.
In other action, Pleasant Home fell hard in a 72-26 loss to Georgiana.
Action today will resume at 10 a.m. with PHS playing Zion Chapel. RLS plays New Brockton at 11:30 a.m., and then Straughn plays Georgiana at 1 p.m. in the tournament championship.
