The Florala Wildcats are putting in a little team work this week in the lead up to their region contest against third-ranked Brantley on Friday.
FHS suffered a tough 34-0 loss to sixth-ranked Geneva County last week to start Class 1A, Region 2 play.
Wildcats head football coach Bubba Nall said the focus this week has been on getting better.
“We’re trying to be more consistent on both sides of the ball — tackling people when you get your hands on them and running what we’re supposed to be running,” Nall said. “This is one of those weeks where we’ve got to get us better. It doesn’t matter who it is, whether it’s Alabama or Brantley. We’ve got to get ourselves in what we’re doing.”
During the loss against GCHS, the Wildcats trailed 27-0 at halftime. In the second half, FHS only allowed one first down on defense.
“I kind of felt like we played ball in the second half (last week),” Nall said. “I’m anxious to see what we’ll look like when we put four quarters together.”
Nall said the players have been up beat in the lead up to the game Friday.
“Our men have had good attitudes,” he said. “We’re excited about the opportunity to play Brantley. If we worry about us, then we’ll be fine playing anybody else. We can’t get too caught up in who we’re playing. We’ve got to take care of ourselves and us playing hard.”
Kick off in Brantley is at 7 p.m. on Friday.
