Andalusia’s 12-and-under girls defeated Talladega 3-2 today to advance to the ARPA Fast-Pitch State Softball Tournament Championship in Gadsden.
The Lady Bulldogs scored one run in the bottom of the first inning and two runs in the bottom of the third.
Talladega went on to score one run each in the top of the fifth and sixth.
“Both teams played exceptionally well,” Andalusia coach Anthony Mikel said.
Mikel said there were hardly any errors committed during the contest.
Andalusia is in a holding pattern at the moment. The Lady Bulldogs are waiting for the loser’s bracket to finish playing to decide its winner that advances to the championship.
Right now, Boaz and Piedmont are playing and the winner advances to play Talladega.
The winner of the Boaz/Piedmont-Talladega game will play Andalusia for the championship. The loser’s bracket champion has to beat the Lady Bulldogs twice for the championship.
Mikel said the championship is slated to start at around 9 tonight.
