Andalusia and Opp’s 8 and under Cal Ripken All-Stars ended their postseason run in the state tournament on Monday at the Opp Sportsplex.

The Bulldogs took charge early in pool play on Saturday, defeating Alex City 11-10, and Monrovia, 13-12 to take a healthy lead in the North Pool.

However, on Sunday, Andalusia lost to Mathews Park 9-2 to finish as the No. 2 seed that set up a game against Florence, in which they lost.

Opp lost 12-2 to Attalla to start pool play on Saturday. On Sunday, the Bobcats then lost 11-4 to Childersburg.

Then, the Bobcats won 12-2 over Talladega later on Sunday to end their tournament run on a high note.

The Bulldogs finished their incredible All-Star season as disctrict champions, the first for the local team.

Opp finished as the district tournament’s runner up, going into this week’s state tournament.

Andalusia finished its sesaon with a 5-4 record. The Bobcats finished with a 5-4 record as well.
