The City of Opp voted to establish a driver’s safety school at a special-called city council meeting Thursday afternoon.
Opp Mayor John Bartholomew said the program will be for any a judge wants to send.
“This helps with insurance,” he said.
Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald estimated the cost for the program to be between $170 and $200 depending on the charges.
McDonald said several officers would be trained in the Alabama Safety Institute course for driver’s safety school.
The course will be held the last Saturday of every month, and will begin June 29.
