Covington County’s Babe Ruth League will hold a meeting on Sunday at 2:30 for all players and parents who are interested, or are wanting to play 16-to-18-year-old summer baseball.
The meeting will be held in the Covington County Commission meeting room.
League officials need to know how many players are going to be playing, and information about the World Series this August will be provided.
Additionally, the Opp City Council pledged $1,000 to the 2013 16-18-year-old Babe Ruth World Series, which will be held at LBWCC in August.
Josh Kyser, director of Opp Parks & Recreation, will also serve on the 2013 Babe Ruth World Series Board and assist with the tourney.
The tournament will be held at Crum Foshee Field Aug. 15-22.
Councilman Arlin Davis said the city will more than get back the $1,000 because teams will utilize the hotels and restaurants in Opp.
Additionally, Davis said that Councilman Mike Booth and Kyser plan to apply for the City of Opp to host a Babe Ruth World Series in the future at the Opp Sportsplex.
