Those wanting to see a new bridge over Jackson Pond in Lockhart are urged to attend the project’s public input meeting Tuesday.
The Alabama Department of Transportation has announced plans to replace the Roland Birge bridge on Ala. Hwy. 55.
DOT officials said that the existing structure will be closed during construction and the proposed new bridge will be built in the existing location. Traffic will be required to
take another route while construction work is being performed.
The meeting will be held Tues., April 16, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Rodney J. Evans Memorial Building at Florala’s Lake Jackson.
The purpose of the meeting is to inform the public and to receive views and comments concerning the DOT’s proposal for building this bridge replacement,” said a DOT spokesman. “A formal presentation will not be made. Accordingly, interested citizens can schedule to attend at their convenience during the above stated hours.”
The meeting will provide the public an opportunity to express their comments about the project in an informal atmosphere through discussions with DOT personnel and/or in writing on the forms provided at the meeting.
