Covington County could see some severe weather today.
The chance of showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase through the day as a cold front moves in from the west, according to the National Weather Service out of Mobile.
A squall line is expected to move into south central Alabama and the Florida Panhandle through tonight.
The NWS reported that conditions will be conducive for the development of strong to severe storms.
Straight-line winds in excess of 60 mph will be the primary threat, forecasters said. A few isolated tornados may be possible.
The Star-News will update its website and Facebook in the event of severe weather-related warnings.
