Alverson named to academic team

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) named Auburn senior Blanche Alverson to the Capital One Academic All-District IV Women’s Basketball First Team.
Alverson will be added to the ballot for a chance to be named to the Capital One Academic All-America Team.
The Andalusia native is one of just three SEC players named to the Academic All-District teams, joining Calli Berna of Arkansas and Taber Spani of Tennessee.
Alverson ranks 25th all-time at Auburn in career points with 1,052, and 23rd all-time in career rebounds with 510. Additionally, she is also tied second all-time in career 3-pointers with 184.
She has scored in double figures in 13 games this season with a season-high 23 points against Ole Miss. She also tied her career high with 10 rebounds against Tennessee-Chattanooga, also scoring 11 points for her second career double-double.
Alverson averages 11.8 points per game, along with 5.7 rebounds per game. She is sixth in 3-pointers made this season with 38 and is hitting them at a 38.8 percent clip.
This is the third year in a row Alverson has earned this honor, making the Capital One Academic All-District Second Team as a sophomore and the first team as a junior.
She currently holds a 3.6 cumulative grade-point average as a biomedical sciences (pre-med) major.
