Gun control: What would Jesus do?

The 2nd Amendment of the Constitution is very clear about the “right of the people to keep and bear arms.” So what are we having all this discussion about guns?
Guns do not kill people, hot heads, people with serious mental problems and criminals pulling a trigger kill people. These people seem to always be able to buy, steal or borrow a weapon. It’s always heart-breaking when this happens, the same as drunk driver having a wreck causing a number of deaths. This, according to most records, is the cause of thousands more deaths than a gun.
On one Fox TV show recently it was stated that more people die each year from a knife, hammer, baseball bats and other objects than from a gun.
But to get to the point in the heading of this letter. I have seen a number of times the question, “What would Jesus do?”
I don’t know about other situations, but Jesus made it about as plain as it can be about the use of weapons to protect your possessions and life.
In the Bible, Luke 22: 35-36, “And he (Jesus) said unto them, ‘When I sent you without purse, and script, and shoes, lacked ye anything?’ Then he said unto them, ‘But now, he that have a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.’ ”
Do I have a gun? Enough said.
