Riding a 16-game win streak, the Straughn Lady Tigers won their way to the No. 9 spot in Class 3A for the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s first girls basketball poll for 2013.

SHS improved to 17-1 after a 64-48 victory over area opponent Southside Selma last week.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Friday as they travel to play Elba.

Straughn’s boys, at 12-1 on the season, were also nominated for the poll, but not ranked.
