Members of the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce board and its executive vice president said it was not possible to reschedule the annual Christmas parade, which falls as the same time as Straughn High School’s semifinal playoff game this Friday. The parade rolls at 7 p.m., the same time that Straughn plays host to Fayette County.
“We recognize the hard work, sacrifice and determination of the coaches, players and parents,” Andalusia EVP Ashley Eiland said. “ So it is with our deepest regret that we cannot ‘stop the hands of time’ and relish the moment with you on Friday night.
“Efforts were made to determine if it could be done, but sadly, it cannot,” Eiland said. “We will be with you in spirit as you do the work that you have to do to make Straughn and our community proud! We will continue the work of the chamber and for our members with our annual Christmas parade. But we plan to celebrate another win by the end of the night and anticipate continued success and a shot at the state championship next week!”
