Fairhope senior quarterback Nate Andrews grabbed the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Prep Spotlight for Week 9 after his seven-touchdown performance in a 58-23 region victory over Northview.
The win helped seal a playoff berth for the Pirates, who host local team Andalusia tomorrow night.
Andrews rushed for 268 yards and scored on runs from 4, 42, 53, 4, 1, 2 and 30 yards.
“I have never had a player score seven touchdowns in one game,” Fairhope head football coach Adam Winegarden told the AHSAA. “Nate actually had an eighth touchdown called back. It was just a phenomenal performance.”
Five of Andrews’ touchdowns came in the second half, where he rushed for 188 yards. His position is wide receiver, but had to fill in for Grey Jackson, who suffered an injury earlier this season.
Kickoff at W.C. Majors Field in Fairhope is at 7 tomorrow night.
