Local VB teams win tonight

In regular season volleyball action tonight, Straughn, Florala and Pleasant Home picked up wins.
Straughn beat Pike County 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-19) in Goshen; Florala beat Red Level 3-0 (27-25, 25-21, 25-20) at RLS; and Pleasant Home grinded out a 3-2 (23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 16-14) victory at W.S. Neal.

Emily Hammett had nine service points and seven assists; Paige Taylor had 15 service points and 10 aces; Courtney Fussell had six service points and four assists; Jacie Williamson had seven kills; Crystal Bond had four kills; Evan Frye had six serice points; and Angel Carter had five service points, four aces and four digs.
In junior varsity action, SHS won 2-0 (25-10, 25-15).
Florala 3, Red Level 0
FHS volleyball coach Joea McNeil said Patricia Marsh was the team’s most consistent server tonight.
“We struggled a lot with serves and although we won, we still have a lot of things we have to work on before our next game,” McNeil said.
