Straughn fans who are eager to get a good look at the Tigers will have their chance to do so Friday night at the high school football stadium.

The SHS Quarterback Club will hold its annual “Meet the Tigers” event and everyone within the organization is “excited” about what the team has to offer this season, club president Mark Elmore said.

“We’re looking forward to it,” Elmore said.

Elmore said this year’s preseason event will be held a little different this year.

“It will begin with the introductions of the coaches, varsity and middle school players, cheerleaders and band,” he said.

Additionally, Elmore said Straughn’s lettermen and quarterback are going to lay out their plans for the season.

The club will be selling fan merchandise at the event and tables set up for those members who need to play their club dues.

Elmore said the summer leading up to the fall season has been “busy.”

“Besides working on our annual fundraisers, we have sold tickets for the Covington Sportman’s Expo and are working on improvements to both the practice field and stadium,” he said.

The quarterback club’s latest fundraiser is a drawing to win the opportunity to kick a field goal at the Straughn-Andalusia football game and win a vehicle courtesy of Andalusia Ford.

Tickets will be on sale for the drawing at the meet the Tigers event, the Straughn Middle School and the Straughn-Red Level jamboree games.

“We encourage everyone to join us on Friday to see the amazing changes at the Straughn stadium and to help kick off another great year of Tiger football,” he said.

Admission is free and drinks will be available for purchase at the concession stand.

The event begins at 6 p.m.
