Amnesty month at library

Read closely, library book delinquents.
Books not returned to the Andalusia Public Library on time? Don’t worry. There’s no fine for the month of August.
Librarian LaFern Griggs said Friday the library normally charges 5 cents per day, per book for overdue books – a fee that can add up quickly for a family.
“We all know it’s easy to have an overdue book,” Griggs said. “As busy as a time we live in now, people forget to bring them back. It happens in the summer especially, with all the vacations and fun to be had.
“By taking advantage of the no fine month, it can really help out,” she said.
Griggs said the promotion only applies to overdue books, not lost books.
