Wilson recognized

Andalusia native and 1971 AHS graduate, Malon Wilson, was honored Sun., Aug. 5, at the Alabama High School Athletic Association 2012 Officials Awards luncheon.
The induction ceremony was held at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery where officials from various districts in Alabama who officiate baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, track, volleyball, and wrestling were recognized and honored by the AHSAA.
Wilson who now resides in Tuscaloosa received the Distin-guished Service Award for his 34 years of serving as an official for high school sports in the Druid City Baseball Officials Association. Wilson officiated Andalusia sports as a high school student and as an LBW Jr. College student before he moved to Tuscaloosa to enter the University of Alabama where he continued to officiate basketball, football, and baseball.
Wilson is married to Carmen O’Quinn Wilson of Tuscaloosa, a teacher at Hillcrest High School. Malon Wilson is the brother of Andalusia resident Jimmy Wilson.
