More qualify for elections

The first official week of qualifying is over, with many municipalities looking at heated races for council seats.
Those interested in running should note that Tues., July 17, is the last day to qualify for the Aug. 28 municipal election.
The following is a list of candidates, with new announcements noted in bold, compiled by The Star-News staff:
In Andalusia:
• Mayor: Earl Johnson;
• District 1: Will Sconiers;
• District 2: Kennith Mount and Duane O’Neal;
• District 3: Andy Alexander and Hazel Griffin;
• District 4: Johnny O. Godwin; and,
• District 5: Terry Powell.
• School Board District 4: Dr. Bill King. (Note: The District 2 seat is also open.)
In Opp:
• Mayor: H.D. Edgar, Jimmy Rogers and John E. Bartholomew;
• District 1: Bobby Ray Owens;
• District 2: Holley Brundidge; Sue Bowdoin, Tommie Norris, T.D. Morgan
• District 3: Mickey Crew, Charles Booth and Arron Baldwin;
• District 4: Mack Hines; and,
• District 5: Oren Stewart and Arlin Davis.
